Skin Guide

As they say "you are going to wear your skin for the whole of your take care of it".

Skin is the largest external organ and creates a barrier between the outside world and the internal world. Now when we say external world it means harsh environmental stressors or bacteria mostly as opposed to people trying to get under your skin.

Our skin has three layers:


  1. Epidermis is the outer layer which gives texture and moisture to our skin. This is first line of defence against the external environmental stressors. It contains a pigment called melanin which is responsible for the colour of  your skin.
  2. Dermis is the middle layer of the skin which contains connective tissues and have sweat/oil glands and blood vessels. It also contains important proteins like collagen and elastin which maintains skin elasticity and firmness. Decrease in collagen leads to wrinkles, a prominent sign of aging.
  3. The deepest layer of skin is hypodermis (subcutaneous layer) which contains fats, connective tissues, blood vessels, and nerve cells. It’s the layer of skin where fat is stored, acting as cushioning.
Our Vegan and 'No-nasties' products go deep in the skin, beyond the superficial layer of the epidermis helping to fight early signs of aging, wrinkles and puffiness.


When to use what?


Let's demystify the world of moisturisers, cleansers, eye creams, elixirs and serums.

  • Cleansers: Remove makeup, dirt and pollutants. Use twice daily.
  • Toners:Hydrate; keep bacteria off the skin (note that our toners do not
    include alcohol which tend to dry out the skin). Use morning, night and throughout the day.
  • Exfoliators:Remove dead skin cells so the skin can absorb other products. Use 1-2 times a week.
  • Masks:Draw out impurities and hydrates. Use 1-2 times a week.
  • Serums/Elixirs: Nourish, repair and hydrate. Use morning & night except Retinol & Vitamin C based serums which we recommend using at night. Use daily.
  • Moisturisers:Stop moisture from escaping and protects the skin. Use twice daily.
  • Eye cream:Reduce puffiness and crows feet around the eye. Use twice daily.
  • Anti-blemish Gel:Removes spots and blemishes. Use twice daily. 


We recommend layering the products in below sequence. Waiting for 10-20s between each layer to absorb:

  1. Cleanser
  2. Toner
  3. Serum/Elixir
  4. Moisturiser
  5. Eye cream/Anti Blemish Gel

An exfoliator and mask would be used after cleansing, but before applying a toner, one to two times per week.
